Some random observations regarding Super Bowl El eye eye eye …

** Though it was never more than a one-possession game until the final two minutes, I never thought the Los Angeles Rams were going to win that game. If it had been decided by judging instead of points, it would have been a runaway, but the fact that New England was dominating yet it was still close is what made it watchable. But it doesn’t matter if it 3-3 or 30-30; a tie game in the fourth quarter is still a tie game in the fourth quarter.

** Speaking of watchable, poor Tony Romo. He spent his whole football life looking forward to being involved in a Super Bowl and the game was such a punt-fest that he had to analyze it like he had one vocal chord tied behind his back.

**I’m sorry that I feel the need to bring this up, but Saints’ fans look worse and worse each day. The not watching part doesn’t really bother me — however that got old after awhile — but the narratives using the words “rigged” and “illegitimate” make me cringe because people actually believe it to be true.

**If you don’t believe Bill Belichick is putting on an act during all of his “it’s on to Cincinnati” weekly press conferences, then you didn’t see him after the game. He was joking around, full of personality, and they almost couldn’t get him to stop talking. You don’t have to like him, but you can’t deny his greatness. They’ve won six Super Bowls and I’d dare say they haven’t been the more talented team in any of them.

**Same goes for No, 12. What Tom Brady has done is beyond greatness. If you thought any differently up until now, this should have sealed it — they are all playing for second place.

**Can we please do something about the post-game festivities? The confetti is so 2005, but the real problem is the parade of the trophy that takes silly to a new level. Good thing the “presenters” have gloves on because we wouldn’t want to get any smudges of the Vince Lombardi Trophy.

Happy Super Bowl Eve Eve. May your TVs be merry and bright, and may all your briskets be just right.

JJ wisely has the Patriots and No. 12; TA has the Rams and 2.5 points. I’ve always been a dreamer.

But other stuff is on-going, like the war that broke out today in Natchitoches. Thought I’d better report in!

Tonight at the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame & Northwest Louisiana History Museum on Front Street, the Louisiana State Museum folk are unveiling a new special exhibition called The Pelican State Goes to War: Louisiana in World War II.

“Produced by The National WWII Museum, the exhibition will feature artifacts, photographs and oral histories highlighting Louisiana’s extraordinary contributions toward America achieving victory in World War II,” the press release reads.

The exhibition opens with a reception from 5-8 p.m. today (Friday, February 1) with drinks, appetizers, and a special performance by the Victory Belles. Opening night is free! And if you’ve never experienced the Victory Belles, a singing trio, they are talented and frisky. We love the Victory Belles, a talented and wholesome bunch for sure.

The exhibition will be at the museum through March 15.

While you are there, check out the Sports Hall of Fame wing. Things are about to be added during the spring to welcome the most recent class of inductees, which includes Peyton Manning, Les Miles, and CFL Hall of Famer and LA Tech All-America QB Matt Dunigan. Induction weekend is June 6-8.

The Dave Dixon and Distinguished Service Award recipients will be announced Monday, post-Super Bowl.

The Induction Ceremony (on Saturday June 8 this year) always sells out but this year will sell out quicker than normal, so check out tickets and events at LaSportsHall.com. Would love to see you there.
