When NC State beat Louisiana Tech to win the Ruston Regional a couple weeks ago, Designated Writers reported this:

Couple of things from that final game, N.C. State’s 14-7 win that would send them to Fayetteville to play No. 1 Arkansas this weekend, (one of three SEC teams Tech beat this year in The Love Shack).

+ The State crew from Carolina are some sturdy, healthy boys who don’t appear to miss many meals or skip many weight room dates. The Hogs might want to buckle their chin straps. Who knows?, but the Wolfpack is primed to give them all they want.

(Clears throat…) Over a seven game span, the Wolfpack has lost only one game since they arrived in Ruston or since they’ve left. They beat the Hogs in Fayetteville best 2-of-3 after losing the opener by a score of something like 143-1, then in the College World Series, they turned back Stanford 10-4 and, in a brilliant game last night, beat Vanderbilt 1-0. Wednesday they’ll play the winner winner chicken dinner of tonight’s Virginia vs. Mississippi State game.

Appreciated the Father’s Day treat that was watching Virginia’s tiny left-handed starter throw in the Cavs 6-0 win over Tennessee that afternoon, then a fabulous game that night won by Mississippi State over Texas, 2-1.

Lawdy lawd. Maybe the rest of the CWS will be a dud, but it’s been great so far. So has NC State. Come Wednesday night, we’ll see who everyone has left to pitch.
