We share with you today, in deference to an old and kind friend, a few cocktail recipes approved by the King of Country, George Strait himself.

We have been told that George recently hooked up with GrapeStars marketplace, the first-ever virtual direct-to-consumer sales channel for celebrity wines & spirits, to promote his award-winning tequila, Código 1530. Again, GrapeStars is the retailer. George Strait, a country music superstar for The Great Unwashed who might not know, is the tequila owner. And so, we share below some recipes using what we are told is the Babe Ruth, or in more modern terms, the Mike Trout of tequila, your basic Código 1530. (If you’re a Mr. Mom fan, “1530, 1531, whatever it takes.”)

Before we share the recipes, a few points:

One, there is no chance either of the DW co-founders will make one of these recipes. We have nothing against tequila but figure it might have something against us and will err on the side of caution.

Two, we have heard of “bitters” and we have heard of “vermouth” and we have heard, faintly, of “Triple Sec” but, if pressed, we … we don’t know. It’d be like asking us to explain cricket.

Three, at least one of us (me) will probably listen to some George Strait this weekend.

Four, if you don’t know George Strait’s music and want some, email teddy@latech.edu and you’ll be sent some tunes. You’re welcome. Next time you see me you can repay me in Triple Sec. Or Quadruple Sec. “Whatever it takes.”

Finally, you can purchase George’s Código 1530 by downloading the GrapeStars app and have it delivered directly to your door. Or doors, if you have more than one. More on the recent partnership can be found here.
