If things get dicey for Louisiana Tech this Saturday, I have a plan straight out of the Old Testament. When it gets to be November and football starts separating the men from the boys, you stick with the tried-and-true classics.
To set the stage:
It’s LSU/Alabama Week (Bammer wins by 12) but in North Louisiana, it’s Louisiana Tech/North Texas Week. The Bulldogs (7-1, 4-0) play host to the Mean Green (4-5, 3-2) in a big Conference USA match. Tech has won seven straight since losing its season opener in Austin to Texas.
You can watch the game on Stadium/Facebook or listen on the LATech Sports Network; pregame begins on radio at 1:30 pm.
Tech is so deep at Old Testament names that they could field an entire Old Testament offense. If that happens, well, Lord have mercy on any opposing defense.
C: Abraham Delfin from Plaquemine
G: Joshua Moat from Oak Grove and Ethan Reed from Orange, Texas
T: Noah Pitre from Geismar and Jonah Brewster from Frisco, Texas.
See what I’m talking about?
QB: Aaron Allen from Missouri City, Texas
RB: Israel Tucker from Metairie and Elijah Hines from Port Arthur, Texas
WR: Isaiah Graham from Bastrop, Joshua Matthews from Baton Rouge and Joseph Walker from New Orleans.
Old School.
And I can still run in Jacob Adams from West Monroe at fullback. If I need more depth, I’ll coach up linebackers Ezekiel Barnett from Benton and Isaiah Windom from Marrero, and cornerback Aaron Roberson from Shreveport.
Noah White from Ruston can deep snap after this unit scores and Jacob Barnes from Baton Rouge can kick the PAT. First-string kicker Bailey Hale could kick it but when is the last time you’ve turned to the first chapter of the Book of Bailey? Not gonna happen.
So Abraham hikes it to Aaron, who hands it to Israel, who throws a halfback pass to Isaiah. The sea parts, Isaiah scores, and that’s a wrap.
Glory!
