Something happened Saturday night that hasn’t happened in a long time: I enjoyed watching an LSU game. Was entertained. It was actually a joy to look at.

9-3 and 10-3 is a fine season but seldom have the Tigers been fun to watch on the way to winning those games. Their defense was almost always a joy but…

Lots and lots of team have been much more fun to watch on offense. I always felt it a shame that good receivers didn’t get that many chances at the ball. Couldn’t understand why they’d even go there.

But Saturday night, the Tigers seemed to have dialed themselves up and into a new era. That was actually a quality, bigtime forward passing game. Imagine if you had Leonard Fournette NOW.

I’m not an LSU fan for a variety of reasons, none of them worth explaining. But the game is better when the Tigers are better. If nothing else, it makes the folks in Alabama at least have to pay attention.

Although one game is a terribly small sample size, at least there is hope that this can be a team that’s fun to watch. And one that can compete. For big titles.

If they’re dynamite QB stays healthy, Texas is next year’s team. They start eight sophomores and a couple of redshirt freshmen.

But LSU, with its 45-38 win over the Longhorns in Austin Saturday, have given themselves a chance to be This Year’s Team. I’m happy with settling for them being a team that’s once again watchable.
